Dear Pastor and spiritual leaders,

My name is Alan Braun. I've been a senior pastor since 1989, serving in Canada.

I was born in Saskatchewan, where I grew up in a Christian home. I started working as a welder, cement worker, highway construction and a city fire fighter.

In 1989, I left my job of fire fighting, with my wife, Wanda and our four children and headed to a small Baptist church in British Columbia.

I remember our first Sunday. There were 10 elderly people in attendance, with our usher being 94 yrs old! We had to sing two hymns just so he could have enough time to make it around with the offering plate! Our salary was $550 per month, which was the same as our rent. Since our kids were accustomed to eating, I had to find a second job and work at both as the church began to grow.

We went through trials and struggles as the years went by but we saw God richly bless. That small church grew from 10 to an average of over 350, to our highest attendance of 622 people! We saw 40 to 60 people being baptized every year when we were up and going!

I believe there are some key biblical principles every small church leader needs to get a handle on to see their work become healthy and grow. I believe these principles work in almost any location and with all people because they are biblical principles.
